CONSULTATION POLICY

HELENSBURGH FAMILY PRACTICE is a “drop in” medical practice, which means we do not take appointments for consultation with doctors.
Our Stanwell Park Family Practice is open Monday afternoons by appointment only.

Patients seen in Helensburgh are requested to come into the surgery and give their name to our reception staff to be placed on our waiting list for the current session. The receptionist will endeavour to estimate the waiting time but actual waiting time will depend on the length of consultations and any emergencies or priority patients, who need to be seen immediately. Patients are given priority at the discretion of the doctor.

Patients may telephone to have their file taken out only if they are unable to wait in the waiting room due to their medical condition or if they suspect they have a contagious illness. Any exceptions to this rule are once again at the discretion of the doctor.

Once a patient has put their name on the list they are welcome to:

  • Wait in the waiting room or upstairs in the children’s play room
  • Go for a walk and come back.
  • Go home and call to see how the wait is progressing.
At all times we endeavour to keep waiting time to a minimum but on occasions circumstances beyond our control can cause lengthy delays. We hope that you will try to be patient even though you may not be feeling your best.
