2010 Flu vaccination

NOW AVAILABLE

The 2010 influenza vaccination is now available. It will protect against 3 influenza strains (including H1N1 Swine flu) expected to be the biggest threat this season. If you have had an H1N1 immunisation the new vaccine can be given after 28 days. It is free for those 65+ and others who are at higher risk for influenza including pregnant women and those with diabetes, asthma and heart disease. Children can also be immunised and are at increased risk, especially if they are in contact with a lot of other children. 2009 was a bumper year for the flu and 2010 may well be the same so get in now and save yourself lost work days and time in bed! Ask us for more information.

Whooping Cough

Whooping cough is still present in the high numbers in the state, but local exposure has been decreasing. It infects people of all ages, not just children. Young infants, especially newborns are at significantly higher risk for complications. Immunisation is available free for parents & carers of newborns. Ask our staff for more details.

If you or your children are not immunised against whooping cough you are at significant risk and immunisation is recommended.

An information sheet on whooping cough can be found by clicking here.

If you have symptoms of whooping cough AND have been exposed to someone with the infection you need to be assessed promptly.

Please inform our staff if you have reason to think you have whooping cough so that infection control precautions can be made prior to your attending the surgery.

If you have any medical matters please contact us directly at the surgery or via telephone.

For emergencies dial either 000 or see the 'hours' page for further emergency services.
